Cinnabar Moth Caterpillars, 2022, Framed

Cinnabar moth caterpillars (2022) is part of Tagada-Hoffbeck's ongoing series Analog Diary (2010 - Present) and was shot on 35 mm color film. Tagada-Hoffbeck has been practicing 35mm film photography since 2010 and while keeping in mind similar concerns as to painting, she explores colours, frames and textures, building a coherent body of work.

Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck, b. 1990, is a painter and interdisciplinary artist from Strasbourg, France. Currently based in rural Oxfordshire, England. Her practice is built on her own daily meditations, expanding outwards to incorporate ecological observations and wider cultural theories. Her work has been exhibited widely in Japan, as well as in France, Los Angeles, London and New York. Her first book Daily Practice was published in 2018 by InOtherWords Imprint.
