Jasmine Albuquerque’s works are imbued with compositional rhythm that stems from her work as a performer, choreographer, and dancer. In her ink drawings, geometric forms are poised and counterbalanced, often in symmetrical patterns punctuated by lines and dots, recalling dance or musical notation. Here, Albuquerque expresses movement through a reduced formal language of rotated, half-circle shapes and bisecting angular lines.

Jasmine Albuquerque is an artist, choreographer, dancer, and teacher based in Los Angeles. She is co-founder of the performance group WIFE and has performed with numerous companies and at venues including the Hammer Museum, LACMA, and Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles. Her choreographic work includes music videos for St. Vincent, Devendra Banhart, and Ry X.
