Drawing from photography’s unique ability to record what exists in a given time and space, Jenna Westra probes at the presence and roles of photographer, subject, and viewer in her images. This work explores a unique approach to still life playing with texture and transparency.

Jenna Westra, b. 1986, Grand Rapids, MI, is a New York based artist. Her work has been shown internationally in Berlin, Zurich, Los Angeles, and New York. She has had recent solo shows at Schwarz Contemporary, Berlin; Fahrenheit Madrid, Spain; Anthony Greaney, Boston; and Lubov in New York. Her first book
Atlas was published by Hassla in 2018 and presented at NADA New York. Westra also teaches photography at Parsons School for Design.
