Gyroscopically Speaking (Marian Goodman Gallery Exhibition Poster), 2010-2011

This exhibition poster was created for Lawrence Weiner’s 2010-2011 solo show at Marian Goodman Gallery in New York. The sprawling exhibition presented Weiner’s text-based works on specially constructed curving walls and on one of the main gallery floors. Also on view were a new series of drawings and an animated cartoon entitled Gyroscopically Speaking, which informed the exhibition title. The show reflected Weiner’s exploration of what he described as “simultaneous realities” as seen in a gyroscope, the children’s toy that appears to stand still only when it’s spinning.

Lawrence Weiner, b. 1942, Bronx, New York is considered a key figure of the Conceptual Art movement.
