Caroline Z. Hurley’s practice as a painter informs her work as a textile designer, and vice versa. In both disciplines, textures are deconstructed and palettes reinterpreted from nature to create new landscapes, both of the outside world and interiorized. In these works on paper, Hurley reveals an astute observation of movement as expressed in nature and domesticity alike.
Caroline Z. Hurley is a Memphis native and currently lives and works in Brooklyn. In conjunction with her art practice, Hurley founded and runs her namesake textile design company. She applied the same principles of her artistic process to the business, taking inspiration from travels and ensuring each piece is individually and sustainably produced. Hurley has also created murals, staged live performances, and developed custom collaborations with various brands.
