Recalling a spectrum of female archetypes, Alexandria Coe’s charcoal lines draw out the nude form as emotion, embodied. Looking not only at womanhood but also at drawing as a sensual act in itself, Coe’s figures are expressed in a constant state of un-definition.
Alexandria Coe, b. 1990, Colchester, Essex, studied textile design and fashion illustration before pursuing an MFA at Central Saint Martins. She has sold work to Liberty London, created ceramics for Kana London, and runs life drawing workshops. Coe lives and works in London.
