Cécile McLorin Salvant, b. 1989, Miami, is an artist and acclaimed jazz vocalist living in New York. Spanning genres and mediums, Salvant’s artistic practice has few boundaries. Salvant has received three Grammy Awards and a nomination for six of her albums, and won the Thelonius Monk competition in 2010. She was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship in 2020, and in 2021, Salvant created Yolk, a virtual cross-disciplinary performance space that features her own animation, compositions, and music, in collaboration with dancers, visual artists, musicians, and actors from around the world.
