This artwork is an original drawing by Hallie Bateman published in What to Do When You Get Dumped, a book written by Bateman's mother Suzy Hopkins and illustrated by Bateman. The book offers an incisive, tender, and appealingly illustrated guide to “unbreaking”, and is the second collaboration between mother-daughter duo.

Hallie Bateman (b. 1989, California) is an illustrator and writer whose work has appeared in the New Yorker, the New York Times Magazine, the Awl, and many others. Her books include What to Do When You Get Dumped, Directions, What to Do When I’m Gone, and Brave New Work. Other books she has illustrated include Eggasaurus. She lives in Cincinnati, OH.
