E.B. White, III, PR Edition, 2021

Published by Picture Room, this series of five editions by Leanne Shapton reproduces the artist’s watercolor illustrations originally commissioned by and featured in The New York Times. The 2017 article details the imminent sale of the historic E.B. White saltwater farm, describing the persisting beauty and charm of the homestead where White famously wrote his classic novel Charlotte’s Web. With her pointed and subtle acumen, Shapton picks out a single detail, choosing to illustrate the quintessential New England folk art motifs—original Moses Eaton stencils—found throughout the home.
