Form 1, 2018

Handmade and each unique, Claire Duport’s textile forms are inspired by pojagi, Korean wrapping cloths typically produced through patchwork handstitching. The forms were made using a technique of layering and cutting away that Duport developed in order to retain the translucency of the light cotton fabric. The series expresses a theme of gender duality; this composition unites the male and female dynamics.

Claire Duport, b. 1982, France, is an artist who works on paper and with textiles. She is based in New York City and Milan.
