In this series, Leanne Shapton uses ink to create highly structural color compositions. While abstracted, the artist’s shapes and gestures retain a suggestion of the thematic elements she has previously explored, such as swimming pools, architectural details, and floral forms. Shapton frequently creates work concerned with the reimagination and recontextualization of existing materials. In this painting, she creates a fluid and warm dynamic through abstract shapes and confident brushwork.
