Memory Palace (Garden), 2019

Artist Robin Cameron created the Memory Palace series while teaching printmaking at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Made in intaglio using eight different plates, each with individual layers of watercolor monotype, the series comprises 32 unique prints. In the initial etching layer, Cameron placed her old works pictorially into a fictional landscape. A second layer of abstract watercolor print, inspired by historic paintings, was then overlaid onto the print, interweaving Cameron’s personal archive within her memory of a larger art historical context. A selection of the Memory Palace works were recently shown as a solo exhibition featuring Cameron at Franz Kaka in Toronto.
