Every inch of the vessel’s matte surface lends itself to the delicacy of an ancient object. Its narrow body and the ridges near its opening allude to its function, as a water receptacle or vase.
Nancy Kwon, b. 1988, Los Angeles, lives and works in Los Angeles. She creates work in clay and draws inspiration from nature and the historical use of ceramics — particularly within the context of early human civilizations and objects of ritual and ceremonial purpose. Kwon received a BFA in film from Pratt Institute in New York, and an MFA in Media Design Practices from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.
