oyster 2, 2018

Paige Mehrer created this watercolor work as part of her 2018 zine Mother of Pearl. In pearl, she explores the layered perception of one’s self through the imagery and narrative surrounding oysters and pearls. Mehrer’s use of starkly contrasting yet suffused hues lends an otherworldly quality to the piece. Published by 2dcloud, Mother of Pearl is part of the broader anthology Mirror Mirror 3, which included two collaborative comics with Haejin Park and Sophie Page.

Paige Mehrer is an illustrator who lives and works in New York.
