Ten Thousand Tons on my Head Landslide — High Wind Alert, 2022

While growing up in Hollywood, California, Anna Topuriya became interested in the idea of image making and the confluence of mirage and reality. Her work is informed by the merging of her and her families lived experience with the backdrop of California’s romanticized mythology and the weight of America’s cultural exports. Through her work she explores the boundaries between the imagined, designed and existing realities of places, of belonging and connection.

Anna Topuriya (b. 1987) is a Los Angeles based artist. Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, she relocated with her family to Los Angeles, CA shortly after the fall of the USSR and the onset of the Georgian civil war (1991). She holds a BFA from Art Center College of Design (2010), is a recipient of the Art Center College of Design Scholarship and the Albert Dorne Scholarship.
