These selected works by Suzannah Pettigrew were featured in a limited edition poetry and photography book ‘A Sphinx Looking for a Poet’. The artist lived in Paris from 2016-2017 where she initiated an ongoing writing practice, complemented by photography. These photographs serve as a mode of collecting and capturing events, exchanges, and feelings that otherwise may have been lost. They embody a sense of spaciousness, stretching and looping time and place. This print offering opens out into a rich tapestry exploring the sensuality of the everyday.
Suzannah Pettigrew is an artist living and working in London. Pettigrew's practice explores digital tactics of power play and the evolution of participation in a post-human society, examining the implications of digital culture and technological advancements on the individual and collective psyche. She intertwines photography, text, sculpture, sound, video and performance with world building ideas and language. Pettigrew expands her intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships to communicate the emotional duality experienced in exchanges between the digital and physical. She emulates our encounters with screens and the spaces within screens by splicing imagery, rituals, and observations. Pettigrew presents multimedia excerpts through an evocative decoding of our shared realities back to the audience. Selected exhibitions include showing at ICA (London), Guest Projects (London), LUX (London), Mimosa House (London), 3537 (Paris), Trauma Bar und Kino (Berlin) and Monom (Berlin). Pettigrew's practice also spans to commercial photography, art direction and digital creative projects. Her work has been featured on The Face, Vogue, Wallpaper, Grazia, ShowStudio, Dazed, Dazed Beauty, WWD, Elephant, Sleek, Something Curated, Important Magazine and Harper’s Bazaar.
