Eclipse, The Empire State Building, August, 2017

In her photographic practice, Alana Celii focuses on memory and collecting, exploring the fluidity of meaning and perception of time. She examines how imagery—even of subjects that are scattered or widespread—can be redefined through organization and curation. In this otherworldly image, Celii captures a striking moment of an eclipse at the landmark Empire State Building in New York.

Alana Celii (b. 1986) lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Currently, she's a photo editor and researcher working in tech. Previously, she was an editor at The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and TIME.
