This work is part of Alexandra Czmil’s series Formes Utiles which contemplates the history of the working middle class, French industrialism, design history and ultimately, art history.  Using vintage plastic dinnerware sourced from French factories, Czmil forms bold compositions that play with color, form and transparency.  

Alexandra Czmil (b. 1981) is a visual artist who lives and works in Nantes, France. Her work ranges from documentary photography to plastic photography, and is inspired by pop culture, working class culture and art history.
