Artist Talks with Sinjun Strom

Part I: Sinjun Strom, in conversation with Talya Alsberg, will be discussing her most recent body of work, “Exotic;” a compilation of self portraits taken over the course of nine months in seven U.S. states and eight different countries. The project is ongoing, as it allows Strom to make unstructured work in solitude and the ability to maintain a healthy balance in life.

Though the project is ongoing, Strom is preparing to exhibit some of this work in an upcoming solo show at Superposition Gallery in NYC, which will be discussed as well.

Talya Alsberg is a conceptual photographer and self-portrait artist. She is interested in combining her experiences of traveling around the world, with aesthetically pleasing natural elements and symbols. Alsberg seeks to bring to life new and foreign worlds that otherwise would only exist in her imagination, while taking significant pride in letting the viewer make up their own world, with just a little piece of her in it.Picture Room hosts a second artist talk with Sinjun Strom, in conversation with Picture Room's own Claire Christerson. Raised in Minnesota, Sinjun Strom is a visual artist whose analog photographs preserve her constructed worlds and characters. She received her BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts and is currently based out of Queens, NY. Her work has been featured on The New York Times Lens Blog, PDN, P3, and W Mag. She also gained recognition this year at Sundance Film Festival for her work as production designer on a short called “Crude Oil” Directed by Christopher Good.
