NO JOKE by Sanya Kantarovsky

Sanya Kantarovsky’s first monograph, NO JOKE, published by Studio Voltaire and Koenig Books. Emerging from a collaboration between Kantarovsky and designer Stuart Bertolotti-Bailey, this publication collects a wide range of work from the past six years. Studio Voltaire describes the book as being “akin to an illustrated novel or picture book where texts run concurrent with images, creating deliberate and accidental relationships between words and images.” The publication's contributors include Eli Diner, Allison Katz and Angie Keefer. NO JOKE was designed and edited by Stuart Bertolotti-Bailey, Liverpool. Three of Sanya Kantarovsky’s woodcuts will be on view and available to purchase during the launch.

Sanya Kantarovsky, b. 1982, Moscow, Russia, lives and works in New York. His practice encompasses painting, drawing, sculpture and occasionally film. Recent solo and two person exhibitions include: In the Gutter, Tanya Leighton, Berlin (2016); Gushers, Marc Foxx, Los Angeles (2015); Allergies, Casey Kaplan, New York (2014) and Little Vera with Ella Kruglyanskaya, KIM?, Riga (2014). Kantarovsky participated in the exhibition Notes on Neo-Camp at Studio Voltaire, London in 2013, and was recently included in the group exhibitions The Eccentrics, Sculpture Center, New York (2016) and Over you/you, The 31st Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana (2015). Kantarovsky is represented by Marc Foxx, Los Angeles; Tanya Leighton, Berlin; and Stuart Shave/Modern Art, London.
