Obliterative Shading #1, 2014

In this series Action, Time, and Vision, Aaron Hegert created works as a practice in intentional dissonance. Comprising original photographs and collages made of appropriated images from an illustrated book on the theory of camouflage (Concealing Coloration in the Animal Kingdom, G.H. Thayer 1909), the series is an exploration of an existing body of knowledge and its transformation when the material is restructured.

Aaron Hegert, b. 1982, lives and works in Texas. He is currently the Assistant Professor of Photography at Texas Tech University. His work has been exhibited and published widely with recent exhibitions at Utah Museum of Contemporary Art; Aperture Foundation in New York City; and University Art Gallery at the University of California, San Diego. He is a Fulbright Scholar and a founding member of Everything Is Collective.
