Elements for Printing: Arrow Silks, 2015

Well known for her elliptical comics, Aidan Koch makes work that emphasizes tone over narrative and seeks affinities between objects, scenes, and moods. Koch frequently builds compositional tension by interspersing silence and space with moments of contact. In this composition, designed to be reproduced onto silk, she draws a parallel between bound hands and bursting florals, and offsets the pairing with a briny gray-green wash.

Aidan Koch, b. 1988, Seattle, WA, is an artist and graphic novelist who lives and works in Landers, California.
