Featured Artist Poster: Joana Avillez, 2016

This poster was printed on the occasion of Picture Room’s Featured Artist show with Joana Avillez in the Fall of 2016. The Picture Room graphic identity, designed by Benjamin Critton, nods to the rectangle as the historic mode of art-making, using classical proportions to enact various iterations of the Golden Ratio.

Joana Avillez, b. 1986, New York, received a BFA in painting from The Rhode Island School of Design, and an MFA in illustration at School of Visual Arts. She is the author of Life Dressing, and recently illustrated Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham. Her illustrations can be found in The New York Times, Vogue, New York Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Refinery29, Paper Magazine, and more.

Benjamin Critton, b. 1983, is an American artist and graphic designer. He is a graduate of the Yale School of Art, and lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
