Someone else's light, 2015

Someone else’s light is a screenprint derived from a drawing the artist created while staying at a friend’s house in the summer of 2015. The artist describes spending the hot, slow summer tracing light from a window as it moved across a sheet of black paper that she laid on the floor. In subsequent years, the artist has repeated this process as site specific installations in buildings in Italy and Australia, tracing light with chalk directly onto floors and walls. These works serve as an artifact of time passing that track the turning of the earth – remnants of the celestial sphere right here under our noses.
